Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Manager to join our Carrier Management Team. Reporting to the team lead, this candidate will play a key role in developing and nurturing relationships with carriers, negotiating contracts, monitoring performance, and driving process improvements to optimize carrier operations. This position is vital in ensuring seamless transportation operations, maximizing cost efficiency, and delivering exceptional service quality.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Management and Mentorship

  • Manage and mentor a team of carrier management professionals, providing guidance, support, and opportunities for professional development.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment that encourages continuous improvement and high performance.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.
  • Encourage knowledge sharing and skill development within the team to enhance overall effectiveness.

Collaboration and Strategic Development

  • Work closely with leadership and other team leaders to strategize and develop new roles and initiatives aimed at driving revenue growth.
  • Collaborate on cross-functional projects that align carrier management strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Identify and capitalize on new opportunities within the carrier network to enhance service offerings and revenue streams.

Process Improvement

  • Elevate Offerings and Revenue Streams: Identify and implement innovative solutions to enhance service offerings and maximize revenue potential within the carrier management framework.
  • Proactively seek opportunities for process improvements and cost savings within carrier management operations.
  • Implement best practices and cutting-edge strategies to streamline operations and boost efficiency

Carrier Relationships

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with a network of carriers.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for carrier-related inquiries and issues.
  • Conduct quarterly business review calls with carriers to ensure compliance with service level agreements.

Contract Management

  • Develop, negotiate, and execute contracts with carriers to secure competitive rates, service levels, and terms in line with company policies and strategic goals.
  • Review and analyze contract terms and conditions to ensure clarity, compliance, and risk mitigation.
  • Monitor contract performance, ensuring that carriers meet their contractual obligations, including on-time delivery, pick-up standards, and service quality.
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of carrier contracts, including renewal dates, performance metrics, and terms, to proactively manage contract renewals and amendments.
  • Lead periodic contract reviews and audits to identify areas for improvement, cost savings, and potential risks.
  • Develop standardized templates and tools for contract negotiation and management to streamline the contracting process.

Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

  • Develop, document, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all aspects of carrier management.
  • Regularly review and update SOPs to reflect changes in processes, regulations, or company policies.
  • Aligning both team members and Carriers on SOPs to ensure consistency and compliance in carrier management operations.
  • Ensure carriers comply with standard operating procedures and company policies.

Performance Monitoring

  • Track and analyze carrier performance metrics such as on-time delivery, cost efficiency, and service quality.
  • Implement performance improvement plans as needed.

Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Collect and analyze data on carrier performance, costs, and market trends.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to identify the underlying causes of carrier-related issues, such as delays or service disruptions.
  • Develop and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence and improve overall service performance.
  • Prepare regular reports and provide insights to senior management for strategic decision-making.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in carrier management, logistics, or supply chain management.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a track record of securing favorable terms with carriers.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, Tableau).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with ERP, WMS, and TMS
