Summary

Receives cash/credit card payments from customers for goods or services, providing professional and courteous customer service. Responsibilities include:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Makes change and issues receipts to customers.
2. Reads and records totals from the cash register tape and verifies against cash on hand.
3. Quotes prices and describes features of items for which money is received.
4. Operates the cash register, scanning items, and displaying purchase details.
5. Verifies cigarette counts with previous and incoming shifts.
6. Follows company policy for carding alcohol and cigarettes.
7. Prices and displays received goods.
8. Checks in vendors and ensures delivery before signing receipts, maintaining copies for management.
9. Operates lottery machines.
10. Maintains cleanliness of the store, including bathrooms and spills.
11. Stocks and restocks merchandise and supplies.
12. Ensures food service equipment is clean and stocked.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED
• 1-3 months related experience or training
• Equivalent education and experience considered

Language Skills

• Ability to read simple words and numbers, print, and speak basic sentences.

Mathematical Skills

• Ability to perform basic arithmetic with money.

Reasoning Ability

• Apply common sense to carry out instructions; handle problems with concrete variables.

Other Skills and Abilities

• Provide excellent customer service.
• Complete TIPS or related training.

Physical Demands

Requires standing, walking, handling, talking, and hearing regularly. Frequent reaching, tasting, smelling; occasional sitting, climbing, bending. Must lift up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Visual abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
